Work Parties - organised for Project Hereward by IWA Peterborough branch

As part of our efforts to reinstate Welches Dam Lock the branch have been granted permission by the Middle Level Commissioners to clear the North Bank of Horseways channel near Chatteris.  The first very successful work party took place on 6th January 2016 with 11 members participating.

Future work parties will take place on a fortnightly basis:

Wednesday 14th December 2016

Wednesday 11th January 2017

Wednesday 25th January 2017

Wednesday 8th February 2017

Wednesday 22nd February 2017

Special All Week-end Event 25th and 26th February 2017

Horseway Lock is approximately 1km from the B1098/Forty Foot bridge at the junction of Langwood Hill Drive and Byall Fen Road.  Use the farm road on the south side of the Forty Foot bridge to access the lock.

All volunteers are welcome to attend on any of these dates. Meet at Horseway Lock at 10.0 a.m. on each day. Tea and coffee will be available on the day; you are advised to bring a packed lunch as there are no facilities for obtaining food.  It is recommended you wear old clothes and sturdy footwear. A selection of tools will be made available but if you wish to work with your own tools that is not a problem.  Please note that our agreement with the MLC stipulates we use hand tools only on this site.
